THE FIRST 15 MINUTES

Start with the basics.

Follow these steps in order. Your Trezor device will guide you through the important moments, and you stay in control throughout.

01

Check your device

Unbox your Trezor and check that the packaging and device look as expected. Only connect a device you obtained from Trezor or an authorized reseller. If anything seems unusual, pause and contact official support before continuing.

A quick check comes first
02

Visit the official start page

Carefully type trezor.io/start into your browser, then follow the prompts to download Trezor Suite from the official Trezor website. Check the address before downloading. Avoid search ads, unsolicited links, and downloads from third-party sites.

Use a verified source
03

Connect and update

Connect your device using its USB cable and open Trezor Suite. Follow the on-screen instructions to install firmware if prompted. Your device may ask you to confirm actions physically. Read each prompt on the device itself before approving.

Create your wallet & backup

Choose to create a new wallet and carefully write down the recovery seed exactly as shown by your device. Keep the backup offline in a private, secure place. Never photograph it, save it in a file, or share it with anyone.

YOUR SECRET STAYS SECRET

One rule above
all the rest.

Your recovery seed belongs only to you. It is the backup that can restore access to your wallet, so treat it like the keys to everything it protects.

  • ✓ Write it down offline, exactly as your device displays it.
  • ✓ Store it somewhere private, secure, and protected from damage.
  • ✓ Enter it only on your Trezor device when the device itself asks.
KEEP THIS IN MIND

No one legitimate
will ask for your seed.

Trezor support will never ask you to disclose your recovery seed. Anyone requesting it by email, message, phone, website, or screen share is trying to steal your funds.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY

New to Trezor?
You’re in the right place.

Take setup one step at a time. These answers cover a few common first-day questions.

Do I need to create an account to use my Trezor?

No account is required to get started with self-custody. Your device and its recovery backup are central to accessing your wallet. Keep your device and recovery seed safe, and use official Trezor software.

What if I already have a recovery seed?

If you are recovering an existing wallet, use the recovery option in the official setup flow and follow your device’s prompts. Never enter your seed into a computer, website, or form. If you are unsure, stop and consult Trezor’s official support resources.

Where can I get help if something doesn’t look right?

Pause setup and visit the support pages by typing trezor.io/support directly into your browser. Don’t follow unsolicited messages or let anyone remotely access your computer. Official help will never require you to reveal your recovery seed.
